Supporting The Cause Of Rural Women In Kumaon
“Himadri-Hans Handloom” (HHH) is a noble initiative of The Hans Foundation, a non-profit organization, working in collaboration with the Government of Uttarakhand. The objectives are to make Uttarakhand’s handloom and handcrafted textiles accessible to global markets, impart technical and design skills to rural women artisans of Kumaon thereby helping them enhance their indigenous skills, and finally, make local craft products that match the needs and aspirations of the new-age consumer. Our aim is to directly impact the lives of 5000 women weavers of Uttarakhand.
A Positive Impact With Every Purchase
An overwhelming number of weavers in India currently live in poverty. Since 2003, we have supported community development in India by working with over 500 women weavers. Our initiative has brought social reform to women in some of the remotest parts of the Himalayas.
Women now have the power to earn and spend money. Dependency on agriculture, which placed rural communities at the mercy of the vagaries of nature, is no longer a matter of concern. Families now have the capacity to access better education and better health care.
We hope to revive handloom by making these one-of-a-kind textiles accessible to the international market.

Our Aim
The primary objective is to promote local handicrafts and artworks that are symbols of the Himalayan cultural heritage. In so doing, we also create sustainable livelihood avenues for the marginalized craft communities who are living in some of the most remote areas of the Himalayas in India. These artisans are at the far end of the supply chain and yet have amazing traditional wisdom and skills. HHH intends to create a sustainable hub for the handloom products of the state and act as a robust link between primary producers and destined international markets. The aim is to strengthen traditional craft value chains thereby bringing the desired change in society.
Our Strength
We have well equipped in-house production centers coupled with a dedicated team of highly skilled master craft persons (producers), technical experts (subject matter specialists), and design professionals. Together, we design and create fashionable and sustainable textiles and products that meet the needs of our most discerning buyers.

Our USP
Our aim is to highlight local skills, keep pace with modern fashion trends through our innovative designs and use of modern technology and ensure that we maintain our quality standards at all times. Our emphasis on environmentally friendly and energy-efficient craft practices and our commitment to the upliftment and security of our women-artisans is of paramount importance to us. We pride ourselves on being able to showcase our contemporary heritage products which comes with a distinctly human touch.
